This is an old hymn I found a while back and never got around to recording it. In case you want to see it: https://hymnary.org/hymn/CS11895/99
For sure bridge and V3 are words I worked with along with some minor tweaks. I wanted to find a way to add the passage about “remember, lest you forget the Lord” from Deuteronomy 8. I was impressed by the continual desire of God for his people to never forget what He did in the past for them. I would like to think I’m better than the Israelites, but I don’t believe I would have remembered any better than they had. I probably would have joined in disobedience one in a while.
Now than I’m slightly older, I can feel and see how easy it is to forget God’s words and commandments, and just forget to follow him after a while. It’s pretty easy. Hope you ask God to help you in remaining and clinging firm to him.
Lyrics
V:
Remember, remember, the love of thy Lord,
What sweetness, what comfort to you it affords.
We’ll ever remember the love of our Lord,
the love with its morning new,
Descends as the quickening dew,
forever faithful, ever true
the love of our Lord
the love of our Lord
V2:
Remember, remember, the grace of thy Lord
Follow, obey the counsels of his word
We’ll ever remember the grace of our Lord
His word will be a mighty tower
To gird our souls with strength and power
And help us overcome each hour
We’ll trust in his word
We’ll trust in his word
B:
Prone to wander into sin
Far from the one who brought me in
Jesus, Lord remember me when
Your kingdom comes
Your kingdom comes
V3:
Remember, lest you forget the Lord
Remember His deeds and His wonders of old
We’ll ever remember his deeds and his word
He died to ransom us from sin,
to wash our spirits white and clean,
and make his blessed home therein
Our savior and Lord
Our savior and Lord
